Support & Service FAQ

What type of maintenance is required for the filtration units?
To maintain your system, please add salt crystals to the brine tank every 6 months. We recommend one 40 lb bag of crystals per person per year, plus two additional bags for household use (laundry, dishwasher, etc.). For a 2-person household, this means adding 2 bags of salt crystals to the tank every 6 months. If you are away for an extended period, you may need less. Conversely, if you have many visitors, you might need slightly more.
My brine tank appears dirty, is this normal?
Yes, it is normal if the water in the brine tank appears dirty or cloudy. This is due to the debris the filter has removed from your water supply. These contents will be expelled from the system during the next cleaning cycle. This water will never enter the main water supply of your home.
How can I schedule a service or maintenance appointment?
You can schedule an appointment through our website or contact us via email at info@coastalempirewater.com.
What areas do you serve?
We serve customers in South Carolina, Georgia, and Northern Florida.
I am getting pink rings around my sink drain and commode, what should I do?
You are likely dealing with pink rings from the airborne bacteria, Serratia marcescens. Our customers have found success treating this with a light bleach solution and Clorox tabs in the back of their commode. More information can be found here.
I lost power to my home, is my water filter still running okay?
The digital monitor attached to your filtration unit has a backup battery that will keep the computer operational during most outages. If you experience an extended outage, please check your unit to make sure the clock is correct when the power is restored. If the clock is not correct, please reset it to the correct time the same way you would set the clock on your microwave.
Do you perform well water tests for home inspections and real estate transactions?
Unfortunately, we cannot perform these tests for you. Local regulations require these tests to be performed by registered labs in your home state. More information can be found here:

South Carolina: SCDHEC Well Water Testing
